Introduction

Welcome to the My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 Pre Release - with this document we will try to answer some of the questions about what My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 is and is not, compared to our prior My Movies for Windows Home Server version for Windows Home Server V1.

My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 overall contains the same functionality as My Movies for Windows Home Server, but where My Movies for Windows Home Server shares components with My Movies 3, My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 shares components with My Movies 4, which is currently also in Pre Release. This also means that My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 contains monitoring functions for TV Series as included in My Movies 4, which My Movies for Windows Home Server does not.

We have created a forum specifically for the My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 Pre Release, allowing you to report issues, post requests or discuss the release in general. You can find this forum here.

Important Notice

My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 upgrades your database to the same version used by My Movies 4. This means that if you have clients connected to your Windows Home Server 2011, these must be My Movies 4 clients - My Movies 3 clients will not be able to connect to the system.

We are aware of the limitation this gives some users who cannot upgrade their clients to My Movies 4, due to the fact that My Movies 4 requires 2,500 points on your user account. While there are not any point requirement to participate in the My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 Pre Release, other than the points required for the various functionalities, it means that you cannot participate in the pre release if you do not have 2,500 points, and at the same time have clients PC's that must be connected to the My Movies function of the server.

The point limitation for My Movies 4 will be lowered to 1,250 on April 15'th, allowing more users to participate. The final release of My Movies 4 is planned for May 2'nd 2011, which is also the planned release date for My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011.

Providing Feedback

We would like as much feedback as you can give about the pre release - including malfunctions, improveable items or general ideas on how to improve the release. The pre release period will be used to solve any issues with the implementation, while functionality requests will be evaluated for later releases.

Please use our forum for feedback - there will be a "My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 Pre Release" forum available for the purpose.

Discussing My Movies 4

While we require 2,500 points (excluding trial points) on a users account to participate in the My Movies 4 Pre Release, the content of it is not a secret to the public. You are allowed to post any screenshot, thoughts or anything else you might have from March 1'st where the pre release is available. This includes both posts on our own forums and on external websites and blogs.

Notice though that the product is available in a pre release version with the purpose of improving the functionality for the final product. We ask that you do not judge the product exclusively by the functionality provided in the pre release - there will be various improvements in the pre release period based on user feedback, and the correct time to fully review the product will be at the time of the release.

The final release of My Movies 4 will be available to everyone on May 2'nd 2011. We will on April 15'th lower the point requirement to 1,250 points.
